Turret Unwinds And Winders

PYRADIA TUNW & TREW SERIES is our most versatile series of automatic turret unwinds and winders, capable of handling a wide variety of web, such as films, foils, paper, nonwovens and laminates.

The machinery can be configured with a central axis, or with a phantom axis when space limitation requires a more compact design, with either shafted, shaftless or cantilevered configuration. Unwinds are either equipped with tension control brakes, or driven, depending on tension requirements and splice option. Winders are available with three drive configurations: center, surface or surface/center, which is selected according to substrate range, tensile strength, product roll compactness requirements, roll diameter and weight.

Various splicing options are available, from manual splice tables unwinds and manual cut and transfer winders, to fully automatic PLC controlled continuous operation. Automatic systems control the entire sequence, from turret rotation to splice or transfer, based on material length or roll diameter. Automatic turrets are typically equipped with pneumatically counterbalanced dancer rolls, for accurate tension control, either constant or taper for larger product rolls.

Lay-on rolls, either driven or idling, control roll compactness by minimizing air entrapment and web tension control. Mounted on linear bearings for constant pressure throughout roll build-up, lay-on rolls are also available with minimum gap mode of operation, for slippery plastics or low tensile strength webs.

With over 50 years of experience, extensive process knowledge, modeling software and pilot equipment, Pyradia engineers will analyse your specifications and recommend the ideal custom production line configuration for optimal process efficiency.
