Pyradia has developed a wide range of high-efficiency single sided, dual-sided and combination flotation dryers. Flotation dryers are ideal for dual-sided coated applications, saturated nonwovens, optical grade films or other delicate substrates that cannot contact any support rollers. Flotation nozzles provide a unique method of drying, employing a combination of air flotation to support the substrate and convection heat to effectively evaporate moisture. Dual sided flotation dryers are equipped with alternating nozzles on top and bottom sides of the web, while single sided is using airfoil nozzles that can be mounted either on the top or bottom sides of the web.
With precise temperature and airflow control, flotation dryers can accommodate a wide range of substrates, from delicate thin films and nonwovens to heavy-duty industrial membrane and metal applications. A key advantage of flotation dryers is the ability to achieve high heat transfer coefficients while maintaining product integrity. Eliminating contact between the substrate and any support roller, reduces the risk of sticking, wrinkling, scratching or other forms of damage that can occur with other IR and convection drying methods.
Pyradia flotation dryers can accommodate web width from 12in to 120in wide, or more, with temperature range up to 450°F, and have no limitation on length.
With over 50 years of experience, extensive process knowledge, drying modeling software and pilot drying equipment, Pyradia engineers will analyse your specifications and recommend the ideal dryer configuration for optimal process efficiency.
